Anyone who knows the Back To The Future trilogy will know that the year 2015 is important. Yes, flying cars, no more dust, weather control (we in Ireland wish!) and Jaws 19 are all due next year. But, as unlikely as that all is, there is one thing you can rely on… Back To The Future: The Musical.
Yes, the BBC are reporting that BTTF co-creators Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale are planning on teaming up with the original composer from the movies, Alan Silvestri, to come up with music and score for the show. Gale said: “We intend to use music from the movie along with brand new songs to make a version of Back to the Future that is fresh, entertaining and takes advantage of all the amazing things that can now be done on stage. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the film.”
Silvestri will co-author the music and lyrics for the show with songwriter Glen Ballard, a six-time Grammy winner, who co-wrote and produced Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pill album and co-wrote the music for the stage adaptation of Ghost.
Director Jamie Lloyd, who directed James McAvoy in Macbeth at London’s Trafalgar Studios last year, will direct the show.
More as we get it folks… but it looks like next year will warrant at least one trip to the theatre..
