Ok, so the world is crying out for a Dancing Groot toy and we’re going to get it but why oh why haven’t we already got it? Dammit, we want it under the Christmas tree!
Well, remember when toy images ruined how The Lizard looked in Amazing Spider-man? Well, that.
Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has revealed to Vulture that the reason is pretty clear…
“While we were still shooting the movie, I brought up putting Dancing Baby Groot out as a toy… The reason it didn’t happen is because you have some control in the film industry over secrets getting out there, but the people youdon’t have much control over are the toy people, unfortunately. Those toy designs get out, always! And people definitely would have gotten ahold of the Baby Groot if we had started manufacturing it in time for it to come out after the movie, so that was the biggest reason we didn’t push on that particular element.”
So, it was so the end of the movie wasn’t spoiled. Well played Marvel and Gunn.
And for those of you who can’t wait, he also confirmed we WILL have the toy in time for Santa. Rejoice!
