Arrow Casts Another Villain, Teases More Connected Stories

August 19th, 2014 by Todd Black Comments

More and more Arrow news continues to come. This one though might just please a lot of fanboys.

A recurring issue many have with Arrow is that sometimes a lot of the “villain-of-the-week” stories just don’t matter. Or the characters are terribly forgettable and aren’t written right (see: Firefly, Shrapnel, Vertigo, etc.). It appears that Season 3 will try and change that, starting with episode two and new villain Komodo.

Entertainment Weekly reports that Matt Ward has been cast as Simon Lacroix, aka Komodo. Another character pulled from the Green Arrow comics. In the New 52, Komodo is a rival archer, in Arrow though, it appears he is a mercenary who will be causing a lot of havoc in Starling City.

While this may seem like typical “villain-of-the-week” stuff, Marc Guggenheim reveals that may not be the case…

“Yes, he’s the villain-of-the-week for the second week of the show, but you’ll see that Team Arrow’s pursuit of him is part and parcel of a season-long storyline,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim says. “You’re going to know what happens to Komodo at the end of the episode, but it will be a little bit tied in better with the season-long mythology than villain-of-the-week episodes have done in the past.”

So there you have it! Something that we the fans have wanted for a while is coming true! Let’s hope this is a continuing trend, and that we continue to touch upon more and more DC characters as the show goes on!
