The X-Files revival has one episode left and then…

Well, that’s the question, isn’t it?

Creator Chris Carter has said that the series will end on a real cliff hanger: “Get ready for the finale. Put your seat belts on, because it’s a big one.”

And he then adds the body blow: “It wouldn’t be ‘The X-Files’ if it didn’t end on a cliffhanger.”

But don’t panic, Carter is confident the series won’t end this season: “We came back to do fresh, original material [and] the response has been very satisfying.

“The ratings have been good — I can’t imagine there won’t be more. Ratings are what it’s all about,” said Carter.

“But no specific conversations have been had. It was mentioned [by Fox executives] in passing to me, but it was tangential to another conversation.”

Now, we all would love for The X-Files to continue forever – espcially if there IS a cliffhanger but Fox co-Chairman and CEO Gary Newman has previously said that getting Duchovny and Anderson (Mulder and Scully) was a nightmare, scheduling wise.

Is this is a potential stumbling block for future intallments? Well, as Carter said, ratings are what it’s all about and money makes the world go round, so who knows…

Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
