Get ready for the new daily show

David Ramsey to lead new Arrowverse show… but not a Green Lantern one?!

January 17th, 2022 by Marc Comments

While I personally have fallen away from the Arrowverse in the last couple of years, I do still enjoy tapping into the news and big events that The CW is bringing to the universe and it seemed last year that, at long last, David Ramsey, AKA John Diggle AKA John Stewart in the shows, was set to become Green Lantern (here). After all, it has been set up for quite sometime in the Arrowverse.

So, understandably, when I first heard this news, I thought Diggle was finally stepping into the [green] spotlight.

But, alas, it seems not.

The CW has greenlit a new Arrowverse show, Justice U and it will be headlined by Ramsey’s Diggle – that sounded a bit rude – but it’s not what you think.

After years of fighting alongside masked heroes, Diggle embarks on a new mission to recruit five young metahumans to live undercover as freshmen at a prestigious university. There he will oversee their education and train them to become the heroes of tomorrow, reads the synopsis.

It seems that Ramsey will direct the pilot, with hope being it will be picked up for a full series.

Since the end of Arrow, Diggle has appeared in – and directed episodes of – Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Batwoman and Superman & Lois, proving the actor and character’s popularity in the Arrowverse with fans.

And that’s all we know. Diggle, rather than being Green Lantern – we assume this can’t happen, despite it being set up a couple of seasons ago, due to Green Lantern’s upcoming appearance on HBO Max and potentially a future movie project… but it’s still frustrating for fans and, presumably, for Ramsey.

Thoughts on a Diggle-led Arrowverse show that has no Green Lantern element? I want to hear them.
