Doctor Who episode Robot of Sherwood to receive a Re-Edit by the BBC

September 4th, 2014 by Marc Comments

According to the RadioTimes, a potential sensitive sequence has been omitted from this Saturday’s episode of Doctor Who following the deaths of two American journalists.

As a mark of respect a beheading sequence has been edited out of the show’s finale, something that could be seen as insensitive after two US journalists were killed by Islamic State militants over the past few weeks.   On August 19th, footage of American journalist James Foley was uploaded to Youtube, in which the young man was decapitated by the Insurgent group.  This was followed by a similar video on September 2nd, showing the death of another journalist, Steven Sotloff.

Robot of Sherwood , written by Mark Gatiss, was filmed in February, long before these events became headline news. A spokesman for the BBC said: “In light of recent news events, we have made an edit to episode three out of respect.”

Robot of Sherwood will air at 7.30pm on BBC1 on Saturday 6 September

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
