Has a new image of merchandise from Star Wars animated series The Bad Batch revealed a big spoiler for season 2?
A new image online which seems to be of a placeholder for merchandise shows the batch but might reveal something we don’t yet know, so spoilers ahead.
Still here?
Good.
OK, so the image, below shows, from left, the promo image from the store, the image I cleaned up and then the two parts of the image we’re talking about. First, here’s the image:
So, in the series The Bad Batch we follow Clone Force 99, an elite team of unique clones who we meet just as Order 66 is about to wipe out the Jedi. Because the clones are unique, the chips in their heads don’t work and they don’t go on a killing spree against the Jedi and ultimately go on the run from the newly formed Empire. Along the way they lose their brother Crosshair, who sides with the Empire, and pick up an unaltered clone, the only female (that we know of), Omega.
Omega shares much in common with the other unaltered clone Boba Fett and we learn in the show that when Boba was created he was named Alpha, hence Alpha and Omega. It also means that Omega and the Bad Batch are brothers and sister.
However the leaked image shows, from top, Crosshair (pre-joining the Empire), Hunter, Tech, Wrecker, Crosshair again and Echo.
So, why does Crosshair seem to appear twice? Well, if you look at the artwork, the second Crosshair, near the bottom, is noticeably smaller and has many speculating that, as I am, Omega – who was in peril a fair bit in season 1 – will wear Crosshair’s original armour, since he now sports spiffy black armour in the Empire, left.
It would certainly make sense as she technically is part of the Batch now and they no longer have anywhere to go to get her new armour and since Crosshair isn’t using it, it may as well be used to keep her safe.
I think this is something we will see in the show moving forward however, for the sake of argument, I also think it’s possible this is a mistake and perhaps the top image of Crosshair should have been him in his new Imperial armour, implying he’s the main threat to the Batch in the show.
Both could be right but it just seems to me that it makes too much sense that Omega will inherit her brother’s armour and join the team proper,
Anyway, what do you all think? Let me know your thoughts, guys…
