First Game of Thrones and now… Superman?
Well, sort of.
It looks like Krypton, the series that will tell the story of the House of El (that’s Superman’s family line), is set to be the first production filmed in the new £20m Belfast Harbour studios.
The SyFy show will go in front of the cameras later this summer and will star Cameron Cuffe.
The complex, which was built on an eight-acre site on the north foreshore of Belfast Lough, includes two film studios, workshops and production offices.
This is awesome news for Northern Ireland and is right on our doorstep here at FTN. We’ll be watching this one with great interest as it will also star NI actor – and Game of Thrones star – Ian McElhinney as Cuffe’s grandfather.
The chief executive of NI Screen, Richard Williams, said: “We are delighted to welcome Warner Horizon to Northern Ireland.
“This cements our position as a world-class filming location with a local and highly skilled crew-base with vast experience.”
We always knew Belfast and its surrounding areas were unique… but we never classified them as alien before now.
Krypton is likely to arrive on earth TV screens sometime in 2018.
