Netflix and Ubisoft developing Splinter Cell animated series

July 31st, 2020 by Marc Comments

Big news for fans of hit video game series Splinter Cell tonight, folks.

Word is that  Netflix and Ubisoft are developing an adult animated series along with John Wick writer Derek Kolstad to bring the animated show – which has already been greenlit for two-seasons of sixteen episodes – to life at the streaming service.

Splinter Cell, the original 2002 game, followed US Navy SEAL Sam Fisher who works for the NSA’s Third Echelon division, and sees him taking on all manner of convert and stealthy missions. There have been seven games in the franchise so far.

Fans may recall that at one point Doug Liman was set to direct Tom Hardy in a movie adaptation (here) but, given that the last we heard of it was in 2016, it’s probably safe to assume it’s either dead or dying.

So, will you be tuning in for this? Does a Splinter Cell animated series – even an adult one – grab you? I want to hear your thoughts, gang.
