Just a few days ago we reported on a new documentary called Happy Happy Joy Joy which will chronicle the creation of one of TV’s most insanely brilliant animated shows, Ren & Stimpy (here) and today we’re reporting on the cartoon classic getting a reboot.
Comedy Central are ‘reimagining’ the Nickelodean and Spike series under the Nickelodeon Animation Studio banner and, as of yet, there are no further details available.
Nothing; nada; nowt.
This is coming hot on the heels of the new Beavis & Butthead series which, along with Darla spin-off Jodie, is a new animation venture for ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Group president Chris McCarthy. All three shows are set to live together on Comedy Central. Beavis & Butthead is set for two new seasons and spin-offs.
McCarthy said: “Ren & Stimpy joins our rapidly expanding roster of adult animation including South Park, Beavis and Butt-Head and Clone High as we continue to reimagine our treasure chest of beloved IP for new generations.”
While I am a big fan of Ren & Stimpy, having spent much of my teens watching them on video and repeats, I seriously doubt the off the wall, sheer insantity of the original will even be repeated.
I hope to stand corrected…
And Ren & Stimpy fans in the house? Let me know your thoughts, folks…
