Shawn Levy reveals first image of Stranger Things stage show, The First Shadow

September 19th, 2023 by Marc Comments

As many of you Stranger Things fans will know, the first official spinoff, Stranger Things: The First Shadow is set to open on November 17th this year.

I say ‘open’ because it’s a stage show in London and it’s already sold out well into next year (unsurprisingly); now, personally, I hate when there’s a big event like this which tells an important part of the overall story that the vast majority of fans won’t be able to see… but that’s another story.

Anyways, in anticipation of the show opening, showrunner Shawn Levy has revealed the first official image from the production on Social Media and, If I had to guess, I’d say it’s of Henry Kreel, the boy who will eventually become the villainous Vecna.

And yes, he’s casting… the first shadow!

On a related note, in a new interview, Levy said of the soon-to-start-filming Stranger Things Season 5, of which he’s directing several episodes: “There’s no way to be contiguous with Season 4, and not, frankly, expand scale and depth.

“it’s major, major, cinematic storytelling that happens to be called a TV series. ‘Stranger Things 5’ is as big as any of the biggest movies that we see.”

So, there you have it, the world of Stranger Thongs is set to end in the core series – in a big, big way – but is already starting to branch out in other spinoff arenas.

Are you excited? Let me know, gang.

UPDATED: It seems there’s something coming tomorrow related to The First Shadow… can a stage show have a trailer? Is that a stupid question? Anyway, I’ll keep you all posted.

Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s FacebookTwitter and Instagram

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
