More good news for Star Wars fans who have a heck of a 2022 still ahead.
So, we all know that next month we’re getting the highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi series and that, after that we have Andor to look forward to as well as The Bad Batch season 2 and The Mandalorian season 3 both set for release later this year and now we may have another animated series coming too with Star Wars: Visions season 2 now being rumoured to return later this year for a second season (here).
Visions was a standalone Manga animated anthology that told individual tales set in the Star Wars universe that weren’t really connected to the wider lore but still could be… if you wanted them to.
It was an experiment of sorts and while it was good it was amazing and when it was bad it was, well, it was pretty bad BUT the good far outweighed the bad and there were several stories that really left us wanting more.
While very little is known, the word is the show is likely to drop this Fall, so September/October time-ish and, like the first season and unlike the other Star Wars shows, it will all drop at once, making it, once again, the only binge-able-on-the-first-day Star Wars series. We’re also hearing that we should expect a bigger announcement at Star Wars Celebration next month.
The rumour goes on: “While I haven’t been able to pin down which animation companies we’ll be getting this time around, I’ve heard there will be some returning studios who would be doing follow-ups on stories/characters from the first season. Again, I have no details on the shorts themselves, so I can’t tell you which continuations we might see.”
This is pretty exciting news and it seems that Celebration next month is set to be a busy, busy time for announcements… we just hope any footage, trailers etc released will get an online release and won’t be kept exclusive for those attending as, well, there’s a lot of stuff we’re excited to see.
