Get ready for the new daily show

The CW are bringing us a Powerguff Girls live-action series featuring the trio in their twenties

Well, I don’t think anyone saw this coming…

The CW – the folks behind Riverdale and the Arrowverse shows – are bringing the world a live-action Powerpuff Girls series based on the six-season Cartoon Network series that is, still to this day, considered one of the 90s’ greatest animated shows.

The original series saw the girls defend Townsville from a host of bizarre villains.

The new series will see Buttercup, Bubbles and Blossom having grown into “disillusioned twentysomethings” who “resent having lost their childhood” to superheroine duties.

However, no shock here, when the world faces a new threat, the angsty (hey, it’s The CW) group will come together as a superteam again.

Arrowverse’s Greg Berlanti will executive produce, while it will be written by (really?!) Juno’s Diablo Cody.

Nothing else is known at this point, gang, but rest-assured that as soon as I hear news, you will too.

Thoughts? I want to hear them.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
