With Constantine heading to Arrow this season (here), rumblings are afoot among fans that maybe, just maybe, we’ll see a new DC Show from The CW… perhaps a new Constantine show? Well, don’t be getting ahead of yourselves folks.
Digital Spy report that The CW boss Mark Pedowitz has shot down any rumours or talk of a new series at the TCA summer press tour… well, sort of: “We have no intention of spinning anything else out.
“Last year at this time, we had no intention of doing [a third] DC project. But as characters were introduced on Arrow and The Flash, we began to realise this was a great opportunity to create the third leg of the stool.”
Hang on, that wasn’t a complete ‘no’, or is that just us?
Pedowitz also said that they passed on Supergirl because they didn’t want another DC show at the time, but in hindsight he regrets it: “We had Arrow and Flash [at the time] and we were not planning to do another DC character. In hindsight, we probably should’ve gone [in] that direction – sometimes you lose great shows.”
Constantine Showrunner Daniel Cerone has tweeted (below) that there are no plans that he’s aware of beyond having Constantine on Arrow… but while we aren’t saying we think Hellblazer will become a series at The CW, we definitely think that Pedowitz may be saying “no” but we think he doth protest too much.
Wonder what will be next?
For those asking, no plans past #Arrow that I know of for #Constantine. Actors, writers and crew released. Still a nice bonus. #Hellblazers
