The Flash season 8 kicks off with crossover event featuirng many heroes… just don’t call it a crossover

Among all the rumours that the upcoming eighth series of The Flash may be it’s last, we have news that it’s going to have a lot to keep fans happy from the beginning.

The season, kicking off on November 16th will begin with a five-part special called Armageddon which will feature several of the heavy-hitters from the wider Arrowverse with Javicia Leslie’s Batwoman, Brandon Routh’s The Atom, Cress Williams’ Black Lightning, Chyler Leigh’s Sentinel, Kat McNamara’s Mia Queen and Osric Chau’s Ryan Choi all teaming up with Flash and his team.

“A powerful alien threat arrives on Earth under mysterious circumstances and Barry (Grant Gustin), Iris (Candice Patton) and the rest of Team Flash are pushed to their limits in a desperate battle to save the world. But with time running out, and the fate of humanity at stake, Flash and his companions will also need to enlist the help of some old friends if the forces of good are to prevail.”

While there are no crossovers in the immediate future of the Arrowverse, primarily because of that damned pandemic, this will certainly have a crossover feel with executive producer Eric Wallace saying the event will have “some of the most emotional Flash episodes ever” adding that there “are some truly epic moments and huge surprises that await our fans. And we’re doing them on a scale that’s bigger and bolder than our traditional Flash episodes.

“Armageddon is a lot more than just another graphic novel storyline. It’s going to be a true event for Flash and Arrowverse fans, old and new. Honestly, I can’t wait for audiences to see what we’ve got planned… we want them to get that same feeling as a crossover, even though it’s not a crossover.”

So there you have it, it may not be a Crisis on Infinite Earths-sized event, but it should be a lot of fun for the fans.

But I can’t help feeling that, with HBO Max really pulling out all the stops for their DCEU movies and shows, the Arrowverse’s days are numbered.
