Marvel heroine Mercedes “Misty” Knight is set to appear in Netflix’s upcoming Luke Cage series, it has emerged.
Comicbook.com has apparently got the nod from insiders that the Marvel Universe’s superpowered afro-sporting female detective will be appearing as an NYPD officer who is reluctantly partnered with the titular Power Man. Furthermore, Comic Book Resources has claimed that actress Simone Missick has been cast in the role.
No word has yet come from Marvel to confirm the casting, but we’ll update you if there’s any changes or announcements .
Misty Knight has been a fixture of Marvel comics on and off for the last 40 years. After losing her arm in a terrorist bombing in 1975, police officer Knight refuses to take a desk job and quits before receiving a bionic right arm made from vibranium and becoming a PI. She was eventually partnered with Heroes for Hire, at that time only consisting of Power Man and Iron Fist.
Luke Cage is currently filming for a likely 2016 release.
