TV Shows That Became Great Games

February 14th, 2018 by Marc Comments

TV Shows have always been hugely popular and you could say right now that they’re more popular than ever before.

There are now streaming services out there which have pretty much every TV show past and present available for everyone to watch. People are now binge watching shows, making them even more popular than they ever were in some cases. What has also become common is for TV shows to impact other areas too, with some going on to be movies and even games. There have been some superb games based on TV over the years, so let’s take a look at some of the best.

The Simpsons
The Simpsons are a cartoon TV family that have become a household name in most peoples’ homes. It has been running since December 1989 and is still going strong now, with 29 seasons and over 600 episodes behind it. It’s no surprise really that there have been games based on Homer, Marge, Bar, Lisa, Maggie and the other characters in the prime time show. The Simpsons Arcade games was a huge hit created by Konami in penny arcades and The Simpsons: Hit & Run on console was even better. The latter was sort of The Simpsons meeting Grand Theft Auto. We’ve also seen a Simpsons slot game created by WMS too.

The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead is one of the biggest shows on the planet right now and it seems to have got even more popular as time has gone on. The post-apocalyptic horror TV show is set to broadcast its 9th series later this year and over the course of the last eight years we have seen various spins offs which include webisodes, animated comics and games. The 2012 game release was a huge success for Telltale Games and The Walking Dead as it broke the mould when it came to video games, with an interactive storyline where progression was based on answers given in conversations.

Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones is probably the most watched and talked about TV show in the world. The American fantasy drama that depicts the lives of those living in the continents of Westeros and Essos has superb plot lines and great characters. GOT has become a show that people simply can’t get enough of and while they’re waiting for a new series their need for anything Game of Thrones increases tenfold. Luckily there have been Game of Thrones games released on PC, mobile and console and there’s a great Game of Thrones slot game out there too, which has been a huge success and can be enjoyed at respected online casino brands listed on review sites like Betting (dot) com.

Family Guy
Family Guy is another superb animated American sitcom that is based on a fictional family that has become more popular than people ever imagined. It’s very much like The Simpsons in some ways but with more of an adult twist and it regularly draws in millions of viewers. It’s been on air since 1999 and now has 16 seasons under its belt. It’s another TV show that viewers simply can’t get enough of. There have been spin offs such as The Cleveland Show, merchandise and games too. There have been releases to console, PC and mobile and like quite a few others, online casinos have since had a Family Guy slot game created.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
