WATCH: Fully R-rated trailer drops for new Stephen King series Chapelwaite, based on his short story Jerusalem’s Lot

Another week, another Stephen King movie or TV adaptation.

The trailer – the terrifying trailer – for Chapelwaite has arrived and is a new series based on King’s short story Jerusalem’s Lot, a prequel of sorts to his iconic vampire tale, Salem’s Lot.

It stars Adrian Brody as Captain Charles Boone who, in the 1850s “relocates his family of three children to his ancestral home in the small, seemingly sleepy town of Preacher’s Corners, Maine after his wife dies at sea. However, Charles will soon have to confront the secrets of his family’s sordid history, and fight to end the darkness that has plagued the Boones for generations.”

Epix president Michael Wright said “this series is an intense, absolutely terrifying reimagining of classic gothic horror” and, frankly, it looks like he’s speaking the truth.

I’m a big fan of King and, especially Salem’s Lot and its place in the Dark Tower story and, while I have read the story in the Nightshift anthology, I remember little about it (hey, it was over 20 years ago!), so I will be watching this with a lot of interest.
