WATCH: Kelsey Grammar confirms Frazier’s return

November 11th, 2019 by Marc Comments

Late last week we got news that Will Smith is working on a way to return to the world of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air (here) and now another classic comedy show is looking set for a return.

In a new interview with Graham Besinger, Kelsey Grammar, star of Cheers and Frazier, revealed that everyone’s favourite radio psychologist may be coming back.

Fans will recall that Frazer ended in 2004 on a cliffhanger that was never resolved and now it seems we may finally find out what happened.

It may be worth, on a side note, saying that the show – should it return – will greatly miss John Mahoney as Frazer’s father.

Anyway, where were we?

Oh yeah, so Grammar believes the show could be coming back.

“We’ve got it hatched. We’ve hatched the plan, what we think is the right way to go. We’re sort of on standby a little bit, working on a couple of possible network deals that we’re circling, and Frasier is sort of in a second position to that. But a revisit to Frasier, Frasier’s world, is I think definitely gonna come.”

Frazer was, of course, a sequel/spin-off series in its own right, following the adventures of the unlikely hero from the classic series Cheers in which he first appeared.

“We’ll see how people respond to it, because it’s not gonna be the same place, not gonna be Seattle, it’s not gonna be the same Frasier, it’s gonna be the man in his next iteration. Hopefully, that’ll be something people like watching. It’s still his search for love, for one thing, I think that will always go on for Frasier, but [also] a connection with his son.”

If they can recapture the writing of the original series then it will be a welcome return, although, once again, the underbelly shows the proof that Hollywood is running out of good ideas.

Anyway, would you like to see these characters – and this world – return? Voice off in the usual ways.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
