WATCH: Stunning opening credits for animated series Star Trek: Prodigy revealed

September 20th, 2021 by Marc Comments

The opening credits of the upcoming animated series, Star Trek: Prodigy have been released and, while we’re still on the fence about the show itself, the credits are pretty beautiful and the theme tune too is pretty solid.

The cast will be made up of Ella Purnell, Brett Gray, Rylee Alazraqui, Dee Bradley Baker, Angus Imrie and Jason Mantzoukas will star in the series which hits Paramount+ later this year.

This is the first Trek series made up of young characters who also happen to be aliens – so that’s two firsts right there.

The new characters will find themselves in possession of an abandoned Federation Starship which they will use to explore and have adventures in the universe.

Star Trek: Prodigy arrives this Fall.

Developed by Emmy® Award-winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (“Trollhunters” and “Ninjago”) the CG-animated series STAR TREK: PRODIGY is the first “Star Trek” series aimed at younger audiences and will follow a motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search for a better future. These six young outcasts know nothing about the ship they have commandeered – a first in the history of the Star Trek Franchise – but over the course of their adventures together, they will each be introduced to Starfleet and the ideals it represents.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
