It’s a great time to be a DC fan, isn’t it?

Arrow and The Flash are coming back, Gotham too. Legends of Tomorrow is just around the corner and Supergirl will follow close behind… not to mention Constantine is now in Arrow too.

So it’s easy to forget Vixen, the new animated series that takes place in the Arrow, Flash and Legends universe.

The man behind the Arrow-verse, Marc Guggenheim, says: “We’re gonna meet Mari McCabe in this first episode using her powers … being chased by Arrow and Flash and then we flash back to a few days earlier and discover her in jail.”

Vixen draws her abilities from the mystical Tantu Totem dangling from her neck: “This is our first opportunity to do a superhero who’s a woman and also of color. So we’re very excited about that,” says Guggenheim.

“It’s also a chance to do a character whose powers are based in mysticism.” Cough – Contantine – cough.

Megalyn Echikunwoke voices Vixen, Stephen Amell is Arrow, Grant Gustin is The Flash, Katie Cassidy is Black Canary, Emily Bett Rickards is Felicity Smoak, and Carlos Valdes is Cisco Ramon – darn it, but this sounds great.

So much Arrow-universe win.

Vixen arrives on the CW Seed on August 25th

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
