Anyone whose been reading Following the Nerd for a while will know that we love a good crossover… and here’s a potential beauty!
So, What We Do in the Shadows star Harvey Guillén, who plays Guillermo, a descendant of the legendary vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, stumbled across a piece of fan art (not the one above, that’s one I threw together for the story) that put Guillermo out hunting with none other than that other legendary Vampire Slayer, Buffy Summers, played by the slightly awesome Sarah Michelle Gellar and, once he saw it, he couldn’t shake off how much he wanted it to happen.
“It’d be like, here comes Buffy! And Buffy comes out of retirement to help him and pass over the baton of being the Slayer,” Guillén says.
“They’d be so cool fighting evil side-by-side. Who knows, the possibilities are endless. Just get Sarah Michelle Gellar to the show. There’s some really cool work where like, someone put Buffy and Guillermo back to back fighting an army of vampires. I saw it and I literally got little goosebumps because I was like, ‘This is so cool.'”
Now, before we all chuckle at this idea, hear me out.
This show has already dipped into the world of onscreen vampires and, technically, that included Buffy.
In the show’s seventh episode we met the Vampiric Council and in there was a lot of famous faces including Paul Reubens who played Amilyn in the Buffy movie. he was joined by the likes of True Blood star Evan Rachel Wood, From Dusk Til Dawn’s Danny Trejo and they even had the daddy himself… Wesley Snipes.
Now, true, these guys weren’t all playing their actual movie vampire counterparts, but the fans got the hint.
So, with that in mind, and Gellar recently adding her vocal talents to the likes of Star Wars Rebels and now Masters of the Universe: Revelation, I wouldn’t rule this out. Not one little bit.
Anyway, how would you feel about Buffy existing in this absurd universe? I want to hear your thoughts, folks.
