Assassin’s Creed 4 Revealed?

February 10th, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher 2 Comments

“Assassin’s Creed 4” has just been confirmed from Ubisoft and apparently it didn’t take long for the company to throw out a leak of what looks like will be their next protagonist in the series. According to a report from yesterday, the newest assassin to join the creed has been leaked from Ubisoft.

This new picture shows five assassins with the middle one being Connor, the one to the right of Connor is Aveline de Grandpré, the one to the left of Connor is Ezio and the one to the left of Ezio is Altair.

The one assassin who is not known is the assassin on the far right of the picture. The mustached man looks to be holding a rifle or shotgun in his right hand, with it resting on his shoulder. Some folks have said this new protagonist looks like he is from Russia, like in the comics, but this is unknown at this time.He could even be a pirate when you think about red belt or his mustache. People have been calling for a pirate themed “Assassin’s Creed” for a while now. According to some Reddit users this may be the case.

Reddit user KingCharlesMarlow says:
“Whilst sitting in a San Francisco Cafe, I happened to overhear two advertising designers discussing a new piece of ACIII DLC, titled Black Flag, that will focus more deeply on naval combat. According to them, the tagline stands as “Survival is the Only Thing Worth Dying For,” and the commercial being pitched involves an Admiral of the British Royal Navy attempting to arrest Connor Kenway on the high seas, whilst a Johnny Cash song sets the tone. The DLC is apparently nearly six months out and still in early development, but seems to be a definite project that Ubisoft is working on.”

Seems that Charles is an Asassin the making. While this sounds like something possible, Why didn’t Ubisoft include this DLC in the Season Pass of Assassin’s Creed III? Where does it fit in?

A much more revealing statement comes from another Reddit user, photoacoustic:
“I was on a flight where the lady in the row in front of me was working on a powerpoint presentation on marketing strategies of several gaming titles. And one that stood out the most was AC4: Black Flags, aimed for release 2013 Holiday season according to her slide. It already had a cool looking logo for it.”

Using Eagle vision to find a scoop, I like it. Now this sounds more like something Ubisoft would really do. One of Assassin’s Creed III’s biggest surprises was the naval combat. At first, it seemed as out of place Revelation’s Tower Defense mini-game, but it turned out many times better than the later. Gamers loved those segments (this one too), so why not make it a key component in the next entry?

Think about it have we ever gotten a real good pirate game? You would be the captain of your own ship, fully customizable, of course, with a full crew acting as your assassin recruits, a gameplay addition first introduced to us in Brotherhood. You would attack targets important to the Templar cause. Exploration would be a key aspect as well: several large islands and many smaller ones, for you to explore, from cities and towns to jungles and caverns, hidden temples and so on; from questing for hidden loot, to boarding ships and swashbuckling your way through all that stand in your way. Ship to ship combat would be big as well. Pehaps after you blow up your enemy with cannons you can take their flags to disguise your ship. With no shortage of  notorious pirates to meet along the way, the premise would certainly be a fresh, and interesting one.

What do you think? Would you like a pirate themed Assassin’s Creed? If not where would you like it to take place?

A pirate’s life for me! You?
