The Force Unleashed heading to Nintendo Switch

February 14th, 2022 by Marc Comments

Ohhhh… ne of my favourite Star Wars characters is about to get a new lease of life.

It’s been revealed that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is set to hit the Nintendo Switch on April 20th, bringing a game that was released in 2008 to the handheld console for the first time meaning Sam Witwer’s Jedi, Galen Marek, will be making a welcome return.

The game will be the Nintendo Wii version rather than the PS3 or Xbox 360 version which will be met with a mixed reception by fans [no doubt].

This is great news for myself as I have played the PS3 version several times but never played this version, meaning it’ll be a definite purchase for me as I’m a big fan of the game the story and the characters.

Here’s the announcement trailer:

This has us wondering if we might be getting more news about The Force Unleashed 3 down the line.

We reported a while ago that there was a rumour that we would finally get the third game sometime soon after the second game’s cliffhanger ending and a third game sounds like it was going to be great (here) and now we’re wondering if we might see Galen Marek return for a third outing with this Switch release being a way of gauging if there’s still an audience for this character; he almost appeared in Star Wars Rebels a few years back too (here).

Whatever happens, while we still hope for a third game to finish the story, having this will do… for now.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is coming to Nintendo Switch on April 20. Play as Starkiller, secret apprentice to Darth Vader, on a mission to hunt down and destroy the Jedi. Dive into a riveting Star Wars story featuring devastating Force power and lightsaber combos, multiplayer Duel Mode, and support for Nintendo Switch Joy-Con motion controls.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
