What?! New rumour that Ryan Reynolds will be in the Snyder Cut as Green Lantern!

Wait… what is happening? I mean, really… what the hell is going on?!

So, it’s been a week for DC fans.

We learned in the last few days that it looks like Ray Fisher will be back in The Flash movie as Cyborg (here); then we learned that Jeffrey Dean Morgan was in talks to appear in The Flash movie as Flashpoint Thomas Wayne/Batman (here) and then we learned that Micheal Keaton might be returning as Batman for Flash but if he does, Jeffrey Dean Morgan will not be in the movie (here), so it’s been a week.

And now a new rumour suggests that Ryan Reynolds – yes, Ryan Reynolds – may be returning as Green Lantern/Hal Jordan for Zack Snyder’s Justice League!

In recent tweet (below), Grace Randolph reported that Warners and Snyder want Reynolds to cameo in the movie in the role he first played in 2011.

Now, this isn’t as mental as it sounds for several reasons.

Firstly, the recent massive DC Crisis on Infinite Earths event on The CW featured Green Lantern, establishing that that universe is still considered alive and well in the DC Multiverse.

And speaking of multiverse, if Keaton comes back then The Flash movie will have set up the multiverse on the big screen, meaning that this Green Lantern/Hal Jordan may not be the same one we met before, but rather a different universe’s Lantern… he just happens to look the same.

If you recall, Green Lantern, directed by Martin Campbell, was originally meant to be the beginning of the DCEU but after its lacklustre reception, it was then changed to Man of Steel kicking it off instead… so this could harken back to that plan.

Randolph went on to say in later tweets that both Zack Snyder and Ryan Reynolds are keen on the idea – is this because originally he was meant to appear in the Snyder DC universe?

Of course, if this does happen, it doesn’t mean there’ll be more to it… we don’t know if more will come from the Snyder Cut, so it could still be Reynolds’ final appearance in the role.

Interestingly, Reynolds played Deadpool in 2009’s Wolverine: Origins before getting a second crack at it in 2016’s Deadpool… could he be set to repeat history with another comic book property? Only time will tell.

Anyway, we’ll have to wait and see how this plays out, but it seems at the minute at least, it’s on the board.
