It was revealed just last week that Dawn of The Planet of The Apes helmer Matt Reeves will be returning for another entry in the sci-fi film series, while negotiations are ongoing for him to pen the script along Mark Bomback. We now have a release date for  the untitled sequel, July 29th, 2016. There are currently no other films scheduled for release on that day.

“A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.”

Directed by Matt Reeves with a script from Scott Z. Burns, Amanda Silver, Rick Jaffa and Mark Bomback,  Dawn of the Planet of the Apes continues the story that began in 2011′s Rise of the Planet of the Apes and the cast includes Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer.

Dawn comes to theaters on July 11th, 2014 in the US and on July 17th in the UK. With a third film to follow on July 29th, 2016
