Chris Evans/ Captain America return linked to Wolverine?

January 25th, 2021 by Marc Comments

You may recall we reported a few days ago that Chris Evans was in talks to return to the MCU as Captain America/Steve Rogers (here) and although the star kinda denied it on Twitter, we definitely fell there’s something to it and now we may have an idea what.

Scooper Daniel Richter has shared information on his Patreon (below) that the star, as previously reported, is not set to return for a new Captain America movie but to appear in other projects and, given that we know Cap’s story ended in Avengers Endgame, these new rumours actually make sense because they would not alter any of his established story.

The first bit of news is that Evans will appear as Captain Hyra – an evil version of Rogers who exists out there in the darker corner of the multiverse and, given that we know WandaVision, Doctor Stranger and the Multiverse of Madness and Spider-man 3 will all delve into that big universe, this could certainly work and not damage Cap’s story in the MCU.

The next rumour is that he will appear when the MCU introduces a new Wolverine into their story.

This also makes sense because, as we saw with the Fox movies (below), Logan AKA Wolverine, has been around for a looong time and has fought in the biggest wars in our history:

So having him fight alongside Captain America, Peggy Carter and/or the Howling Commandos during World War II would be a great way of tying these two chapters of the Marvel story together and, on top of that, much like Spider-man: Homecoming, it makes sense to have a favourite Avenger appearing alongside an actor portraying a familiar character for the first time.

Anyway, still just speculation at this stage… what say you all? Would you like to see Evans back in these roles? Do you think Jackman should return as Wolverine or is it time for a new face? Let me know your thoughts…
