Robert Kirkman says seven or eight seasons of Invincible is necessary to cover the whole story

If, like us here at FTN Towers, you’re pacing the floors waiting to see season 2 of Invincible, you’ll be happy to know that once it’s here and it is then over, there’s likely much, much more to come.

Based on the long-running comic series, there’s a lot of story still to tell – seriously, check out the Invincible books, that’s a lot of reading! – the series will have to go on for a long time to cover all the ground, story and chaos and it seems that creator Robert Kirkman has been giving that some serious thought too.

“I’m trying not to pin it down to a number, because it is somewhat of a moving target,” Kirkman says in a new interview.

“I think in the seven-to-eight-season range seems like it would be enough. But there could be some things we move through a little faster, some things we expand. If we’re fortunate enough to go for a good long time, I think that would be enough to cover the entire comic.”

Wait… is Spider-man in Invincible Season 2? Em, the evidence seems to say ‘yes’!

Interestingly, he also teased that, if you’re a big fan of the Image Comics series but worried that you already know all the story, then there’s a reason for you to keep tuning in too, as Kirkman says he’s got come ideas to expand on the story we already know and love: “There are some things along the way that didn’t get into the comic that I’d like to do.

“I think it’d be cool to have some episodes here and there that are completely original. So that’s part of the plan moving forward.”

This is very cool news if you’re just looking for a cool animated universe to get lost in, whether you know the story already or not, it looks like there’s going to be a lot for you to enjoy.

so, are you excited for several more years (hopefully) of Invincible? I wanna know your thoughts, gang!

Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s FacebookTwitter and Instagram
