WATCH: Picard Season 2 teaser reveals return of iconic Next Generation villain

April 8th, 2021 by Marc Comments

It looks like Picard Season 2 will have more than just Guinan (here) and LaForge (here) returning as a new teaser for the show has teased a big returning villain from Star Trek The Next Generation.

The teaser for the season (below) contains no actual footage from the series, but does show Picard’s home Chalet with Patrick Stewart’s iconic voice-over but right at the end we see a Queen of Hearts card disintegrate with only the Q left before hearing the voice of actor John de Lancie saying “The trial never ends…”

De Lancie, fans of Trek will know, plays Q, the omnipotent nemesis of Picard and the crew of the USS Enterprise in the series, popping up from time-to-time to make life hard for all involved, testing the crew to see if they earned their place in the universe and it looks like he’s set to return for Season 2 of Picard.

Of course, Q appeared in Star Trek animated series Lower Decks, left, season one (here), so his return isn’t completely out of the blue but is certainly a very welcome one.

Personally, I didn’t think much of Picard season one and felt it was pretty much a non-event that destroyed a lot of what made Picard the character he was and I genuinely wasn’t too bothered about a second season but, with this new addition, they managed to get my attention and I will be tuning in. Let’s just hope it improves on its first year.

What say you all? Let me know your thoughts, guys,
