We’ve pretty much known since late 2015 (here) that the Green Lantern Corp movie was likely to feature two earth Lanterns, Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

And now it’s been confirmed as Warner Bros have appointed David Goyer to write the script along with Justin Rhodes, with Goyer producing and with DC heads Geoff Johns and Jon Berg exec producing.

Goyer has been involved in many comic book adaptions including Blade (he even directed Blade III but we’ll say no more about that), The Dark Knight and most recently Man of Steel and Batman V Superman, so he knows the territory. Rhodes is a relative newcomer and is working on the Guillermo del Toro-directed Fantastic Voyage remake.

But this description has us really excited:

The new version is described as Lethal Weapon in space, and it’s based on a comic book origin story. The focus will be on two characters: Hal Jordan and John Stewart. The latter is an African American Marine sniper before he joined the Lantern Corps and the story very much focuses on his relationship with Jordan and the Corps. The story was conceived by Goyer and Johns.

Lethal Weapon in space sounds exactly like what we want a Green Lantern movie to be!

So, it makes us wonder if the rumours of a Lantern appearing at the end of Justice League (here) might have some weight to it.

With this and Shazam seemingly moving forward (here), it looks like DC and Warners are stepping things up.

Are you excited for the Green Lantern Corp movie? Let us know…
