New rumour linking Carnage to Venom movie could also mean massive link to MCU!

February 12th, 2018 by Marc Comments

With filming completed on Sony’s Venom movie – you know, the Spider-Man villain movie sans Spider-man? – and the teaser trailer arriving last week to mixed reactions, we now have potentially big news that may even link it to the MCU as we speculated before.

It looks like Carnage’s cameo in the movie may have been revealed.

You might recall we’ve been hearing a few times that Carnage will appear in the movie, well now That Hashtag Show has revealed that Cletus Kasady, the serial killer who also has some of the symbiote that created Venom only with him it’s the montrous and murdeous Carnage, may have a post credit appearance in the movie:

“We know that filming recently took place in San Francisco and it appears that near the end of the film, possibly in a post-credit sequence, Brock will find himself in San Quentin prison, located just to the north of San Francisco. At San Quentin, it appears that Kasady finds himself under the care of Dr. Ashley Kafka, who introduces him to Brock but cautions him to keep his distance. From what our source is telling us, it is during this meeting between Brock and Kasady that a portion of Brock’s symbiote begins making its way towards Kasady before we are cut to black!”

This is interesting for a few reasons.

Firstly, and most obvious, it sets up a sequel where Venom and Carnage may go face-to-face. Sweet.

Secondly, the mentioning of San Quentin prison is pretty interesting and could be a big link to the MCU. We’ve heard several times that these movies from Sony will possibly exist within the MCU in the same way that the Netflix shows (for example) do, as in they are set in the same universe but in a more ‘floating around the outskirts’ sort of way (here) and there’s a connection here because sharp fans of the MCU will recall that Ant-man himself, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) at the beginning of his solo outing, was in San Quentin! So if they are related, this would be a good place to start.

Thirdly, you may recall speculation a while back (here) that another Sony Spider-man spin-off, Silver and Black, might feature the arch-villain Scorpion… and we’ve already met Scorpion in the MCU, played by actor Michael Mando in Spider-man: Homecoming – and we’re hearing he may return to play him in the Sony movies. And, interestingly, the last time we saw him in that movie was in prison along with Michael Keaton’s Vulture. Could that have been San Quentin too?

And, just before we go, the report also pondered if Woody Harrelson, who we know is in the movie but not in what role, could be Cletus? Wouldn’t that be a thing?
