Interesting news tonight for fans of the universe’s greatest bounty hunter, Boba Fett.
We have heard news and reports for some time now (here) that actor Temeurra Morrison would be playing the iconic character in season 2 of The Mandalorian and a few days ago the character’s armour was spotted in the trailer (here) but now it seems we have the confirmation we were hoping for.
Morrison played Jango Fett in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Fett was not only the genetic template for the clonetroopers – leading to rumours Morrison may be playing an older Captain Rex from The Clone Wars (here) – but also the father of Boba Fett, who was played in Episode II by Daniel Logan. So it would would make sense that Morrison, who then went on to voice all the clonetroopers in the prequels and the stormtroopers in the remastered original trilogy, would play an older Boba Fett in the series.
So now Morrison’s New Zealand agency Robert Bruce Agency has shared a link to the actor’s CV which confirms (below) that he is indeed playing Fett.
Now, in what capacity will he play the character? Well, I know there was some questions as to if Morrison, 60, could play him as he’s much older in real life than Fett would be at this stage in his career – the series takes place five years after Return of the Jedi – so some think Morrison may just be on voicing duties or could be de-aged to play the role, but we mustn’t forget that Boba, following the rules of the Mandalorians, may not take his helmet off and, physically, Morrison is in more than good enough shape for a role like this.
Whatever the case, it’s exciting having him back as Boba, confirming once again that he didn’t die five years before when he fell into the Sarlaac Pit and is out there, somewhere, still hunting his quarry and striking fear throughout the galaxy.
Just as he should be.
What say you all? Let me know your thought, gang.
