Ok, so, we loved Spider-man: Into The Spider-verse. Like, seriously, loved it.
And we want more of it. and we know we’re getting a spin-off and sequel already – plus Sony have big plans for their Venom universe – but we want more!
And look, I don’t want to be THAT guy, but with the deal between Sony and Marvel for Spider-man needing to be revisited after Spider-Man: Homecoming, we expect all this to be linked in ways that we already foresaw here and here very soon.
Add to this the Golden Globe win a few nights ago for Best Animated Picture and you know Sony aim on capitalising as soon as possible.
Enter Sony Corporation’s chief executive Kenichiro Yoshida who took the job last April.
He has plans for Sony and your friendly neighbourhood Spider-man.
“I want to convey the message that Sony is a creative entertainment company,” Mr. Yoshida says.
Seems reasonable. What is also reasonable is the fact that he also hints that Sony is considering making animated television shows based on characters introduced in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
We would take that in a heart-beat…
Add to all this, the fact that Spider-man was also in Avengers: Infinity War and the PS4 Spider-Man game was massive and we reckon 2018 will be looked back on as the year that Spider-Man went to a whole new level.
But… Spider-verse animated shows? Yes, please!
